Basilica builders

To take an interest in the construction of this great public monument, the forum basilica of Colonia Iulia Equestris, is to take a look at what was certainly one of the most important “great works” of Roman Helvetia. A public worksite is the expression of a political will, the deployment of considerable financial resources, a complex organization at the service of a gigantic economic undertaking, and the testing of a wide range of skills. It is also, and perhaps above all, a lot of sweat (cold sweat for some…), a hell of a lot of noise, and coordination problems between the countless trades and very diverse people who coexist more or less harmoniously.
